Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy considers the body as a whole rather than just focusing on the individual aspects of injury or illness; treatment may include:
Education and advice on aspects of daily life, such as posture, workplace set up and exercise technique.
Movement in the form of tailored exercises and physical activity advice.
Manual therapy and massage to ease soft tissue discomfort and provide short term pain relief.
Physiotherapy can be helpful for: back pain, neck pain and whiplash, sciatic like symptoms, osteoarthritis, chronic long-term pain, acute sporting injury and repetitive strain injuries and all other types of muscular skeletal issues.
Prehabilitation
Prehabilitation is the process of improving the functional capability and muscle strength prior to surgery. Prehab physiotherapy has been shown to improve post-operative outcomes for procedures such as ACL reconstruction, hip replacement or shoulder surgery.
Post Operative rehabilitation
Post-operative rehabilitation is a collaboration between the patient and the physiotherapist, to formulate the best possible plan and achieve the desired result, returning the individual to their chosen level of activity or sport. Post-op physio is often designed around specific protocols that can be tailored and nuanced according to specific requirements.
Sports injury rehabilitation
Sports injury rehabilitation is a safe, therapeutic approach that helps athletes effectively treat pain and achieve optimal performance. Treatment will include targeted exercises to facilitate a return to pre-injury function and a personalized exercise plan to improve mobility restrictions.
Sports injury rehab can be useful for runners, tennis players, golfers, or even darts players.
Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage can be used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as muscle strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure by using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. It is believed to help to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue.
Postural and workplace assessment
A postural assessment includes observing the physical alignment of the body in different planes. Particular attention may be given to noting the position of the cervical and thoracic spine, the relationship of the thorax and the pelvis and the position of the shoulder girdle and feet. Following an assessment a tailored exercise plan will be designed specific to your needs.
Personal training
Physio50 works in conjunction with personal trainers who are skilled in exercise progression and goal based attainment.
Correct technique: a personal trainer will teach you the proper mechanics of each exercise and will ensure that you are performing each with the right form, thus maximizing the efficiency of your workouts.
Enhanced motivation: having a scheduled session with a personal trainer
promotes accountability on your part, and can assist in developing adherence to
a long-term exercise programme. A personal trainer will review short-term and
long-term goals and help to improve your self-confidence and self-motivation.
